Simple ingredients prepared the home-style way, equals great food.
Lefty’s Café was established back in the early 1990’s and was soon known as the community-gathering place. It was also the place that Ray and Raelyn Peterson met as employees over 19 years ago. Ray was a cook in the kitchen and Raelyn was a server.
Lefty’s Café was well known in the neighbourhood and among the trucking community as a bustling little restaurant with great food and generous portions. After Lefty’s Café was sold, the two moved to Edmonton to further their education.
Ray and Raelyn returned back to the Peace Country in 2007 and re-opened Lefty’s Café on January 1, 2012 in its original location—to the left of the Bezanson General Store.
They know customers are looking for good old-fashioned wholesome food, which is why the menu focuses on home-style family favourites. Simple ingredients prepared the home-style way, equals great food.
Ray grew up cooking in restaurants and went on to complete the Culinary Arts program at NAIT. His passion and talent increased as he won many cooking competitions granting him the opportunity to cook with well-known Canadian Chef Michael Smith. Ray’s love of cooking means that he is at home in any kitchen!

Stopped in by chance on my way to visit family (long drive from Calgary) and we had lunch with family. Wonderful food, fantastic server, she was so wonderful and took very good care of us. The restaurant had a nice home feel and bathrooms were clean. If you have a chance to visit, I would highly recommend.

This is my favourite restaurant to go to for a home cooked meal. Great ambiance, clean restaurant and best bang for my buck. I live in GP, and although there are a few places almost as good as Lefty’s, it’s still my go to for a great homemade meal. Best gravy as well! Thank you!
